Re: Jorma Kaukonen Sits-In With Tedeschi Trucks Band |
Gotta check this one out. What I find interesting is the man who sat behind this all: Leon Russell. Another reminder of his enormous influence at that time. Also I noted the last songs in the set list and wondered how old Bruuuce was in 1969. Sure got a lot of that from him in the 70s and 80s.

Good show, some boogie woogie flu. Lots of good people young and playing together.
Bruce added the Detroit wheels stuff and Mona to end. I think back then 79 or so he hadn't written most of his songs yet, kinda like the Dead.
"Leon could sing the phone book"
I saw some videos from 70 from right after the Blue album and he was great, skinny and long fingered piano playing, making up stuff as he went along, great improv and a big band feel of having fun.
Good Morning Judge, tell me what is Fuzzy's fine.
Cooking red beans now.

Well except for Born To Run and Darkness On The Edge of Town. :)

Re: Jorma Kaukonen Sits-In With Tedeschi Trucks Band |
I saw this on Jorma's site and wondered how long he would sit in. Tuna opened for Little Feat 2 years ago and Jorma's amp was left on stage and jammed just about the entire set after a few songs. I must say the last time I saw Electric Hot Tuna it was for me a disappointing show. It was the original power trio line-up w/ their drummer Justin. Now Jorma usually has many Les Pauls but for this tour he broke out the old burgundy Gibson FireBird. Also he had this Gibson SST which sounded like a Flemanco gut guitar and sounded terrible. To add to this he changed guitars after a song or 2 handing it off to a roadie who then brought it back. This was more annoying the Jerry's noodling. I did e-mail Jorma and he did reply saying sorry I was not pleased w/ this show and that the reason the guitars were taken off was to re tune them by his tech. It was not a great show and they are better w/ Larry Campbell, Barry and or G.E.Smith. .

I have not seen them in years. I saw a video with Campbell and Smith from the Beacon where they did a second set of Airplane that I liked. It was Jorma's birthday.
I am going to see David Bromberg with Campbell and I think Mrs. Campbell Thursday.

If you go to the Bromberg show you will love it. David comes out and introduces Larry and Teresa Campbell but says they usually sit in w/ us but this night they had to travel to another gig. Up next was the old seasoned folk singer Tom Rush and was surprisingly good. Now the Bromberg Big Band comes out and this was different then any other show I've w/ him. No long story telling songs, no Mr.Bo Jangles no old stuff. A very tight and enjoyable show. I saw this and the T6una show at my favorite venue The Count Basie Theater Red Bank n.j.
Oh, one other thing , Electric H.T. is playing the Fillmore out in S.F.in Feb. and my friend says Steve Kimock is sitting in. They need another player.

He played solo acoustic and opened with Demon in Disguise and closed with Mr. Bojangles. A good fun show. Played Dark Hollow, Traveling Man, Kind Hearted Woman, Lot to laugh, Train to cry, Sharon, Statesboro Blues, Mary Jane, Spanish Johnny . Anyway a good night for all.
